Prenatal Yoga Workshop (5 Series) - with Courtney James Parkyn and Stephanie Zito (2/12. 2/26, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17)

A workshop designed in 5 parts especially for expectant mothers to restore vital energy resources and nurture the bond with their babies. In each 90 minute session we will learn breathing techniques that help calm the body and mind, easing the stress sometimes experienced during this time. We move through a very soothing and grounding sequence of supported asanas (postures) to help relieve the pain and fatigue associated with pregnancy. Connect deeper with your baby and enjoy the community of like-minded moms-to-be as you strengthen and prepare your body for childbirth. Workshop is suitable for all levels. Five sessions: Sunday Feb 12 and 26 10:30am-Noon; Saturday March 3, 10, & 17 4:30-6pm. Early Bird saves you $25 when you register by 2-5-12; after February 5, price is $125.

Belly Dance Veil Workshop - with Sarah al Nour (Sun, 3/18)

Celebrate Spring and the return of the light with this amazing 'Lifting the Veil' Workshop. Imagine a belly dancer... a beautiful woman sways and swirls to the music, her body rhythmic and fluid, veils flying as she makes the music visible. She adorns herself with rich fabrics and jewelry and as she dances, she envelopes her audience with mystery and delight. Become that vision! Join us as we explore the significance, symbolism, beauty and pure joy of dancing with veils. Everyone will be given an opportunity to learn simple belly dance movements and veil movements that complement each other. We will then experience how the veil enhances our dancing by finding new ways to combine the two. Sunday March 18 from 2-4pm. $30 each if you bring a friend. $35 for individual registrant. Materials fee paid directly to instructor for veil which you take home with you. All levels welcome- No dance experience is necessary.

Yoga Essentials - Part I

What exactly is Yoga? What are the benefits? Is it for me? This 3-hour workshop is for both beginning practitioners and those who have a current practice and would like to gain an understanding of proper alignment in the basic poses, what ujjayi breathing is and how it benefits your practice, as well as working from the core to deepen your postures. From here you will feel comfortable attending other yoga classes with a clear understanding of the true benefits of a focused yoga practice.

Yoga Essentials - Part II

This 3-hour workshop is for those practitioners who would like to take their practice to the next level. You will learn how to work with lines of energy to intensify your asanas, strengthen your core, and be introduced to more challenging poses including inversions, refining balancing poses and clasping twists. Upon completion, you will take with you the confidence of a true yoga practitioner with a deeper understanding of the meaningful benefits of a focused yoga practice.

Intro to Hoopdance. Hoop dance is fun and sexy new way to improve your fitness. Come strengthen your core in this fabulous combination of exercise and dance. This course will focus on the fundamentals of hooping and explore on and off the body moves while encouraging creativity and play. Similar to Vinyasa Yoga, hooping is a strength building and cardio workout that focuses on finding your natural rhythm and flow.

San Clemente Family Wellness Detoxification and Cleanse

Based on 'THE CHINA STUDY' learn how to prepare the foods that make you and your family well, and eliminate those foods making you sick. Understand the direct correlation between good nutrition and your overall health. You will participate in a Detoxifying Cleanse that will help you shed weight, reduce or eliminate pain, prevent common illnesses such as Cancer, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, M.S., and other degenerative diseases and address conditions such as Depression, Obesity, Asthma, Allergies and Autism Spectrum Disorders including ADD and ADHD. Hosted by Jane Pamphile, a Nutrition and Wellness Counselor certified in Plant Based Nutrition through Cornell University. Food demonstrations and sampling will be provided each week. This course is open to every man, woman and child over 12 years of age. Saturday January 28 through Saturday March 10 from 4-6pm, culminating in the last session on Saturday March 17 from 4-7 pm with an interactive cooking demonstration and feast.
