Beginners Welcome & Encouraged - BodyMovin' Yoga & Dance studio in San Clemente welcomes each and every person interested in trying a yoga or dance class, despite your previous experience. Whether you are a complete beginner, or come with lots of experience, we have a class to suit you.


Vinyasa Flow Yoga San Clemente Vinyasa Flow Yoga - Incorporating a blend of yoga postures, mindful breathing and proper alignment in a moving sequence, this class gives you strength, focus, balance and peace of mind. A blend of sequences with traditional Ashtanga roots, this class combines standing, balancing, seated and inverted postures. Beginning with Sun Salutes, then moving through Chaturanga, Triangle, Warrior, and Side Angle postures, we warm up the body, work intensely, then end in a closing stretching sequence. This class will strengthen the upper body and core, teaching you how to gracefully flow from one pose to another. All levels welcome.


Toddler and Me Yoga - 7-Class Series Toddler and Me Yoga - Play with your toddler while doing yoga! We will learn fun yoga poses for the toddlers, have an energizing practice for the adults, and give toddlers a gentle, soothing massage. The class is designed to help them strengthen their bodies, improve coordination, and release some of the stress associated with this age. They will also socialize and play with other toddlers. Moms, dads, and caregivers of all levels and abilities welcome. This class is a wonderful way to bond and have fun with your toddler!


Zumba Dance San Clemente ZUMBA! - Are you ready to party yourself into shape? That’s exactly what the Zumba® program is all about. It’s an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party™ that’s moving millions of people toward joy and health. Our San Clemente dance fitness class is an inspiring, effective, easy to follow, calorie burning workout. Stemming from a Latin-based aerobic fitness program created by Miami-based dancer and choreographer Beto Perez, Alberto Perlman and Alberto Aghion. Prenatal Yoga San Clemente Yoga Prenatal Yoga - A class designed especially for expectant mothers to restore their vital energy resources and nurture their bond with their babies. We will learn breathing techniques that help calm the body and the mind, easing the stress sometimes created during this time. We will also move through a very soothing and grounding sequence of supported asanas (postures) to help relieve the pain and fatigue associated with pregnancy. Connect deeper with your baby and enjoy the community of like-minded moms-to-be as you prepare and strengthen your body for childbirth. Suitable for all levels.

Power Flow Yoga San Clemente Power Flow Yoga - For those students looking for a rigorous workout to supplement your regular yoga practice. A dynamic and challenging yoga class that will help heal, detoxify and exhilarate the body and mind. We associate each breath with a pose, moving from one posture to the next to the rhythm of your breath. Improving balance, intention, and core strength, you will move through a Vinyasa-style flow building strength, toning your muscles, and developing keen internal focus. Previous experience recommended.


Tribal Fusion Belly Dance Workshop San Clemente Tribal Fusion Belly Dance Workshop (Sun 6/3) - What is “Tribal Fusion Belly Dance?” Discover this cutting edge dance form for yourself, as Sarah demonstrates and explains the art, essence and technique of Tribal. Kids Yoga San Clemente Kid's Yoga - Our Kids' Yoga program helps to stimulate the mind-body connection so crucial for proper child development and academic success. As a retired school teacher of ten years, our instructor believes there is a tremendous impact on improved focus in the classroom and their overall behavior both in and outside of school. This non-competitive and fun class is the perfect adjunct to soccer, swimming, gymnastics, and other sports. Yoga improves flexibility, balance and coordination. Your kids will release energy while calming their mind as they learn basic yoga poses appropriate for all levels of children ages 6-12.

"People who suffer from chronic back pain may find some relief in yoga or intensive stretching, but neither form of exercise appears to be more effective than the other, a new study suggests.

Roughly 80% of adults experience low back pain at some point in their lives, and as many as 8% will experience chronic symptoms that last three months or longer. Primary care physicians regularly prescribe painkillers and muscle relaxants to these patients with varying degrees of success, or refer patients to physical therapists, chiropractors, or other specialists. Many doctors also recommend exercise and stretching, but few studies have explored whether certain physical activities are especially effective for back-pain patients.

The new study, which appears this week in the Archives of Internal Medicine, is a follow-up to a small 2005 trial that found that yoga was slightly better for back pain than a comprehensive exercise program that included strength training, aerobics, and stretching. The researchers suspected this might have been due to the meditation-like "mental component" of yoga, and they expected to get a similar result this time around...."

"Yoga has many proven health benefits, but does it stand up to other forms of exercise? Researchers pitted it against a walking routine and found that those who practiced yoga showed greater improvements in mood and anxiety.

Researchers randomly assigned 19 people to an Iyengar yoga program and 15 to a metabolically matched regular walking regimen.

Both groups took part in the programs for an hour three times a week for 12 weeks. Study participants were tested several times to measure mood and anxiety. They were also given magnetic resonance spectroscopy scans to measure levels of the brain chemical gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that quiets brain activity, reducing anxiety and producing a state of calm. The scans were done at the beginning and end of the study and immediately following a yoga or walking session....."
